Otto Bremer Trust Awards Grant to ExercisAbilities to Improve Parking Lot Safety for Participants with Disabilities

Rochester Asphalt and Concrete to Begin Construction this Week

Rochester, MN –  July 24, 2019—  ExercisAbilities, Inc announced that they received a generous grant from the Otto Bremer Trust, enabling them to grow their impact on the community by improving health for all with their programs and services for specialized rehabilitation, health, and fitness.

“A portion of this grant makes it possible for us to assure that our participants feel safe coming to ExercisAbilities”, said Melanie Brennan, DPT, CEO and Founder. Dr Brennan reports that a portion of the grant will pay for much needed improvements to the safety of the front parking lot.  “Last year, a car accidently ran through our building and destroyed my office.  I would have been badly injured if I would have been at work that day.  Thankfully, we will now be able to add reinforced bollards to the front of our building to protect our clients inside.” The improvements will also include an improve handicap ramp and a new exit to improve traffic flow and overall parking and customer safety.

ExercisAbilities is working together with a local contractor, Rochester Asphalt and Concrete, that has done many projects such as this and they have a reputation of doing quality parking lot design and construction. Vice President of Community Engagement Kenneth Bush says, “We see it as an honor to work with such a fine organization that cares about our community, so it was something we wanted to be a part of.”

Construction will begin Friday, July 26th.  ExercisAbilities and Rochester Asphalt and Concrete plan to host a community open house and Grand Re-Opening following the completion of work. Rochester Asphalt and Concrete and Virgil’s Auto Clinic and Towing are also Platinum Sponsors of ExercisAbilities Fall Fundraising Event, Family Adventure Day.
